EASTER
With Easter Sunday we conclude our brief look at some of the many illuminations depicting the events of the Holy Week.
Easter day is, of course, the most important day of the Week - but not only; it is, in fact, the most important date for Christianity, giving meaning to the worshipping of Jesus himself. His resurrection proves Jesus' status as the Son of God, thus granting to those who believe a spiritual resurrection to a new, "blessed" life and the eternal salvation in his name.
Because of this, Christ is often portrayed emerging from his tomb while bearing a staff or vessel in the shape of a cross, much like in the illumination above.
Folia Magazine wishes a happy Easter to those who celebrate it!
